Exam Pattern of IBPS Probationary Officer Exam
IBPS organizes Probationary Officer Exam twice a year for recruiting eligible candidates to the post of probationary officers and management trainees in 19 nationalized banks. The detailed pattern of this exam is given below.

Pattern of IBPS Probationary Officer Exam
There are two sections in this exam. The questions of the first section will be of objective model. 4 choices will be given for each of the questions. There are 5 parts in the first section. Candidates need to qualify in each of the 5 sections separately. The total time allotted for this section will be 150 minutes. 1/4 of the mark will be reduced if the answer is wrong.
The first part will consist of questions from reasoning. This part is to test the thinking ability and reasoning skills of the candidate. There will be 50 questions in this section. Each question carries 1 mark making the total marks of this part 50.
The second part will include questions from English Language. This is to check the English proficiency of the aspirants. There are 50 questions in this section. Each question carries ½ marks each making the total marks of this section 25.
The third part will include questions from Quantitative Aptitude. This section is meant to check the problem solving skills of the candidate. There are 50 questions in this section each carrying 1 mark thus making the total marks of this section 50.
The fourth section includes questions from General Awareness. This section focuses on analyzing the awareness of the candidates in the banking matters. There will be questions to check the awareness of the candidates in the current events also. This section also has 50 questions of 1 mark each. Total marks for this section will be 50.
The last part of the first section will include questions from Computer Knowledge. This is meant to check whether the candidate have enough knowledge in the basics of computer that is necessary to deal with the day to day banking operations. The number of questions and the mark distribution will be same as the 4th section.
The 2nd section will comprise of descriptive type questions. This section is meant to check the English proficiency of the candidates. Total marks of this section will be 25. Time duration of this section is 1 hour. The total marks of the written test will be 250. The descriptive section is valued only if the candidate qualify in the objective section.
