VAO stands for Village Administrative Officers which is conducted by TNPSC.

If you have 12th standard OR graduation degree then you are applicable for VAO exam but you age should be in between 21 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide as per govt rule But you must know the Tamil language.

Selection is basically based on the written exam which consists of two papers- general knowledge and general English or Tamil. It is a 300 marks exam out of which you need 90 marks to qualify.

VAO Exam Details:

** VAO stands dor Village Administrator Officers. To recruit these officers an exam is conducted by the Tamilnadu Public Service Commission whenever there is a vacancy for this post. The advertisement for this post is published in two parts. One for the SC/ST candidates and the second one for the other categories.

** Out of the total seats vacant 30% of the seats are kept reserved for the women while 5% are kept for the ex-servicemen. Even for physically handicapped candidates 3% of the total seats are kept reserved. If the selectors fails to get the number of women required to fill up that 30% of the seats then the seats gets filled up with that number of men.

** If you wish to give this exam then you need to be a 10th pass out. If you have higher qualifications then also you will be considered only when you have the S.S.L.C. certificate to show.

** Your age should not be less than 21 years when applying for this exam. The upper age limit for general category candidates is 30 years. For reserved category candidates the upper age limit is 40 years.

** You should be well versed in Tamil language because after getting selected you will be posted in the villages of Tamilnadu and the local languages of these people is Tamil. Therefore to avoid any sort of communication gap you need to know this language properly.

** It is expected that only physically fit candidates will sit for this exam so to prove your medical fitness you need to show medical certificates to the authorities concerned at the time of exam.

** The written exam is of vital importance here since the selection procedure is largely based on that. Greater the marks, more will be your chances of making it to the next level. Other factors which might affect selection is the district chosen by you and the number of reservations of the district in question.

** For the exam you will questions from the following subjects: General Knowledge and General Tamil/General English. The first paper is bilingual and the second paper is optional. You need to state your preferences in the application form itself.

** You need to answer 200 questions in 3 hours and the number of marks allotted for this exam is 300. Out of the total marks allotted you need to secure minimum 90 marks to qualify.

** The cost of the application form is Rs. 125 for general category candidates and for reserved category candidates it is Rs. 50. The application procedure for this year's exam is already over and the exam is due in September.
