Sociology is one of the subjects in the National Eligibility Test. This test is to check the eligibility of the candidates for lectureship as well as Junior Research Fellowship. The test is held for languages, humanities and some science subjects. Sociology is one of the humanities subject. There are two papers on the subject. The pattern of paper II has been described here.

Paper II of Sociology is an objective type test. The questions are all multiple choice type questions, with four optional answers for each question. Out of the four options, only one is correct. Students have to mark their answers on the OMR sheet given. It is to be kept in mind that multiple answers are treated as wrong answers. The number of questions in the paper is 50, each carrying 2 marks. so the total marks carried by the paper are 100 and for these 50 questions the time given is an hour and 15 minutes. There is no negative marking in the paper, so students should answer all the questions. The questions are matching questions, assertion-reason type questions, true-false types and the straightforward multiple choice type questions.
