If you have completed 10th OR 12th standard OR graduation degree then you are applicable for VAO exam but you age should be in between 21 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide as per govt rule But you must know the Tamil language.

Age should not be more than 40 years a rule mandatory for both the general candidates and SC/ST and OBC candidates.

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission conducts the exam for the post of Village Administrative Officers (VAO) whenever there is a vacancy. To sit for this exam certain eligibility criteria needs to be satisfied. Some of them have been listed below:

~To sit for this exam you need to have the secondary school leaving certificate as that is the minimum qualification required. Even if you have higher qualifications that will be considered only when you have this S.S.L.C. certificate to show.

~You should not be less than 21 years when applying for this exam as that is the minimum age limit. The upper age limit to sit for this exam is 30 years. This rule is applicable for the general category candidates only.

~The reserved category candidates will get age relaxation. For SC/ST candidates and other such reserved category candidates the age relaxation is upto 40 years.

~Since this exam is conducted in the villages of Tamilnadu therefore it is obvious that the people over there will speak in their local languages which is Tamil in this case. So it is very important for you to know Tamil properly so that you can communicate freely.

~If you do not know the language properly then also you can sit for this exam and later pass the Tamil language exam which is also conducted by the TNPSC and pass in it. This needs to be done within two years from the date of selection.

~Only physically and mentally fit candidates will be allowed to give this exam. Therefore the authorities concerned would want to see medical certificates proving your fitness. This needs to be shown at the time of examination to them.

~Written examination in this case holds a lot of importance and should not be taken lightly as this is the determining factor almost when selecting deserving candidates for the vacant seats. Other than that some other factors are also taken into consideration like the district you have chosen and the reservation of the district in question.

~There will be two sections to complete in one single paper:- 1) General English and 2) General English/ General Tamil. The first paper is bilingual where you will be given the option to write the answer in the language you are most comfortable in. The next paper is optional and your preference needs to be stated in the application form itself and not during examination time.

~For each paper 150 marks each have been alloted and you have to complete the whole paper in 3 hours. Questions basically will be of S.S.L.C standard and you need to get minimum 90 marks out of 300 to qualify in the examination.

~Examination Pattern At A Glance:



~Please Note: Out of the total vacant seats available 30% are kept reserved for the women, 5% for the ex-servicemen and 3% for the physically handicapped candidates. If they fail to get the number of women required to fill that 30% seats then the vacant seats are filled by men of that equal number.

~The notifications for this year's TNPSC VAO Exam was published in the month of June and the last date for registering for this exam online and paying fees both online and offline is already over. The exam is due in September.

~If you have already applied for this exam then by the third week of August you will be able to download the hall ticket for the exam. Results of the exam is generally declared in the month of November and by December the counselling or interview session starts.

VAO exam’ which is exactly Village Administrative Officer Exam, is conducted by TNPSC ( Tamilnadu Public Service Commission ) almost every year to select village administrative officers for Tamilnadu Villages . This time the notification of this exam will be given in June, 2012 by TNPSC . Let us take a look the details of the exam -

The qualification criteria for this exam is 10th or 12th passed or a graduate.

Age eligibility is 21 yo 30 years (Relaxation is provided to reserved categories but it can not be more than 40 years)
