Now there is a new rule for graduate , The graduate can skip CPT exam & direct enter in to IPCC course ,ITT Course , Orientation course & Final..

CPT stands for Common Proficiency Test. It is the first stage of Chartered Accountancy. If you want admission in CA, then it is necessary to clear Common Proficiency Test. The CPT exam is conducted twice a year.

You can register for the test as early as after passing 10th standard. However you can only appear for the exam upon clearing the 12th standard. However if you have passed graduation then there is a provision to skip Common Proficiency Test.

A candidate who has scored 55 percent marks in commerce graduation and 60 percent marks in non commerce graduation are exempted from appearing for the Common Proficiency Test. Otherwise it becomes mandatory to appear for Common Proficiency Test.

There are 4 subjects in the Common Proficiency Test that are divided into two groups.

1. Fundamentals of Accountancy

2. Economics

3. Mercantile Law

4. Quantitative Aptitude

You need to score minimum of 30 percent marks in each group to clear the Common Proficiency Test.


IPCC

The second stage of Chartered Accountancy is IPCC. You can take admission for it either after clearing Common Proficiency Test or if you meet percentage criteria for graduates, then there is no need to apply for CPT.

Group 2

5. Advanced Accounting

6. Auditing and Assurance

7. Information Technology and Strategic Management


Final Course

The last stage is known as Final Course. The only way to take admission for it is by clearing IPCC. There is no provision of direct entry for Final Course.

3)CA Final course ,CPT is the first stage .It is objective type exam .

Eligibility:- 12th pass student are eligible and its duration 2 months.
Exam time- June/December

Dear,

Yes CPT is very necessary for CA. CPT stands for common proficiency test.It is an entry level test for Chartered Accountancy Course. It is open only to those students who are already registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA) of India for the said course.

Pass percentage of CPT it 35% which is quite achievable so you can get through it with some serious study and a little hard work.

After clearing this exam you will be allowed to write IPCC i.e. integrated professional competency course which is second level of CA exam. But now commerce graduates with more than 55% marks are allowed to give IPCC directly without attending CPT exam.

CPT eaxm is held twice in a year in June and December. This is conducted by ICAI. This exam consists of four papers to be conducted in two sessions of two papers as follows:
1st session:

• Fundamentals of accounting
• Mercantile laws

2nd session:

• General economics quantitative aptitude.
• Quantitative aptitude.

For each correct answer you will get 1 marks and for each wrong answer .25 marks will be deducted so you need to be very careful while answering.

Fees for CPT Registration is:
Application Form-Rs 100
CPT registration fees-Rs 6000
Total Rs 6100


After CPT registration than Register for the CPT exams
CPT Exam fees is Rs 1000


Candidates who have appeared in class 12th exam or have passed class 12th exam can apply


In the CPT exams questions are asked from the below sections:
Fundamentals of accounting

All the questions are asked in objective mode only

Hi,

candidates who wants to pursue professional career in CA needs to clear CPT(Common Proficieny Test) first. CPT is the first step to become CA followed with IPCC. There are 3 Levels to become CA. First is CPT, Second is IPCC and Last is Final Level. It is conducted by ICAI.

If you think you have got all the right reasons for pursuing CA and also possess most of the skills to succeed in the field, then yes, CA CPT is definitely right for you.

For CPT you need to continuously study for 5-6 hours daily. Time Management, Proper study schedule is very important while preparing for CPT.
