CA CPT Exam Pattern
Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test (CA CPT Exam) is one of the famous exams conducted in India for the admission to Chartered Accountancy course. This exam is conducted by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). This exam is a good opportunity for the candidates who aspire to pursue their career in Accountancy.
Structure and Syllabus for CA CPT Exam
Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test (CA CPT Exam) will be conducted in two modes that are paper pencil mode of examination and online registration mode of examination. Paper pencil mode of examination will be conducted in two sessions that is morning session and evening session. Online registration mode of examination will be conducted at specified centers across India. Candidates should fill their examination form online to attend this online exam. Subjects which will be asked in this exam are given below.
- Fundamentals of Accounting
- Mercantile Laws
- General Economics
- Quantitative Aptitude
Question Pattern of CA CPT Exam
CA CPT Exam which is conducted in two sessions will have only objective questions. Medium of the question paper of this exam will be English. Two hours will be the duration for each session. Two subjects will be asked in each session. Fundamentals of Accounting and Mercantile Laws will be asked in the first session as section A and section B. Section A carries sixty marks and section B carries forty marks. Second session will consist of section C and section D. General Economics will be asked in section C and Quantitative Aptitude will be asked in section D. The maximum marks for the second session is hundred which is equally divided among section C and section D.
One mark will be given for each right answer and one fourth of the marks will be deducted for wrong answers. If the candidates have darkened multiple circles for answering a question, then it will be considered as wrong answer.
Preparing for CA CPT Exam
Common Proficiency Test (CPT) exam is a very competitive exam and it attracts large number of aspirants from all over India. Those who want to clear this exam should maintain a positive attitude toward the exam. Candidates should convince themselves that they have all the abilities to score well in the exam. It is better to prepare early for the exam to build strong confidence. As the exam approaches, tension will increase and it will affect the studies. So an early preparation will give a calm mind to approach the exam. Candidates should manage their time perfectly by setting up a good study plan with time schedule specified for each day. They should practice previous year question papers to get acquaint with the exam pattern. Refer those books which contain variety of problems. There are several online preparation tests available for this exam on various websites. It is better to undertake those tests to improve the skills needed to clear the exam.
