UNIVERSITY GRANT COMMISSION(UGC) conducts NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST(NET) twice a year June/December for selection of Lectureship and award to Junior Research Fellowship(JRF).
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR NET LECTURESHIP & JRF:- -The candidate must be an Indian National -Should have completed post Graduation in any stream from a recognised University with 55% marks(50% for SC/ST candidate) -There is no upper age restriction for those applying for Lectureship but those applying for JRF should not be over 28 years of age. The Eligibility Criteria that is required for NET Examination are mentioned below : a) You must have completed your post graduation from any recognized university. b) You must have a minimum of 55% marks in post graduation. c) There is a relaxation of 5% marks if you belong to SC/ST/OBC Category. d) There is no age limit bar for the Lecturership post. e) The Age Limit for JRF is 21-28 years. NET stands for National Eligibility Test which is conducted by the University Grants Commission. This exam is conducted twice a year for lectureship and PhD. First time NET exam is conducted in June while second time it is conducted in December.
Each state also conducts similar exam which is called SET or State Eligibility Test. The aim and eligibility of SET exam is same as NET. Below are the details of NET entrance exam. Eligibility 1. Only candidates of Indian origin can apply. 2. There is no limit on number of attempts. Education 1. Post graduation degree in any stream from a UGC recognized university. 2. You must score minimum of 55 percent marks. 3. SC/ST candidates must score 50 percent marks in post graduation. 4. You must select NET subject which is relevant to your post graduation degree. 5. Final year students can also apply for NET Exam. 6. Although final year students should be able to submit their degree within 2 years of passing the National Eligibility Test. Age Limit 1. The age limit for Junior Research Fellowship is 28 years. 2. Three years relaxation is given to OBC candidates. 3. SC/ST are given 5 years relaxation. 4. There is no upper age limit for College Lectureship. |

Hello Dear,
NET exam is conducted by University grant commission twice in a year in the month of June and December. only those candidate can appear this exam who are fulfilling these criteria. Candidate should be completed post graduation with minimum 55% marks(for general & OBC candidate) for SC/ST 50% marks Candidate who are appearing their final year of qualifying exam are also eligible for this exam. Age Limit For JRF candidate should be 19 to 28 year. For Lectureship minimum age is 19 year maximum age no limit |
