Re: How to pursue a career as English Lecturer after doing M.A in English
dear friend.
if you want to be a lecturer in english than you must have to complete your ugc-net exam. the eligibility criteria for ugc-net is: 1. minimum 55% in post graduation from a recognized university. 2. no upper age limit for lectureship test. 3. maximum of 27 years of age for jrf. since you have got just 52% in your post graduation exam, so sorry to say that you are not eligible for ugc-net. try for something other. all the best. |

Re: How to pursue a career as English Lecturer after doing M.A in English
I don't think it is possible for you to become lecturer in government colleges. For lecturer job in government colleges, candidates must clear the National Eligibility Test. Unfortunately you do not meet the percentage criteria to appear for it.
You may try in private colleges where you may have better chance but not in government colleges. You can also try for PhD, however the criteria could be different for different colleges. If your intention was to take get government lecturer job then you should think about PhD, because you definitely do not meet the criteria for National Eligibility Test. I would say if you can, please apply for lectureship in private college. You have good chance in private colleges, else you should consider PhD option. For your satisfaction, I have written down below the criteria for NET entrance exam. Eligibility 1. Only Indian citizens can apply. 2. A post graduation degree from a recognized university. 3. At least 55 percent marks. 4. SC/ST candidates need 50 percent marks. 5. Final year candidates of master degree course may also apply. 6. The age limit for JRF is 28 years. 7. There is no age limit for Lectureship. As you can see that unless you belong to SC/ST category, you can not apply for the NET entrance exam. |
