What is the difference in BSc Nursing and GNM?
i am a graduate nurse.
i have observed in most of the hospitals, that whether you are a graduate nurse or a diploma holder, that makes no difference, work assigned to them are same, no difference as such seen in salary also.... then whats the point of appointing a BSc nurse, there should be marked difference between them, so, that everybody knows that and understand the difference. |

If you have done your 12th in science background with Physics, Chemistry and Biology then you may study B.Sc nursing. GNM is for those who are having Commerece background or other than science.
Second point is, GNM is for those student who wish to study in a way that does not make their study hard as compare to Degree STudy. In a degree, format is tough than Diploma. (this is what is known for general case) GNM followed by B.SC nursing gives better learning and experience as compare to B.SC only. For India B.sc nursing and GNM stand for the same value. In early time, there was only GNM However B.sc nursing started later. For job abroad opportunity, gulf and many other country accept both qualification with their own additional exam. For GNM, for job abroad there may be mandatory 6 month additional course needed to be done abroad. If you have more question, you may ask me at [email protected] am not nursing student however it is one of my interest for my NGO and i have worked as a Nurse Assistant during my study in australia so i had some knowledge about it. One day i wish to study. In india it is bad situation that apart from science student, directBsc nursing option is not available for commerce study. Country like australia have even 2 year B.sc nursing course for any stream student. (latrobe university for ex,) INC should focus on the demand and improved academic course structure. |
