Hi, I have completed my B.Tech regular degree course which I joined after Diploma course. I did not do Intermediate. So, am I eligible to apply for the IPS examination? Is Intermediate compulsory?

To be eligible for IPS examination i.e; officially known as Civil Services examination, the minimum education required is a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

So, having completed your B.Tech degree course after your diploma course, you are eligible for appearing in the same examination as far as the educational requirement for the same examination is concerned as diploma course is equivalent to intermediate education.

You are eligible to appear for the Civil Service Examination. It is conducted by UPSC.

The eligibility to appear for the examination is that candidate must have passed bachelor degree from a recognised university.

So, you are eligible to appear for the examination even without diploma course.

The examination is conducted in three stages and candidates have to qualify in all three stages for final selection.

To apply for the IPS, a candidate should apply for UPSC examination.Eligibility criteria for IPS are:
(1)A candidate should hold a degree to apply for the exam.
(2)A candidate should have attained 21 years and should of 30 years maximum to apply for the examination.Age relaxation of 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST.
(3)A candidate should be a Indian citizen.

IPS Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification: A candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree from any of the universities recognised by the UGC or possess an equivalent qualification.

Age Limits : Candidate should fulfill the age limits mentioned below: Minimum age 21 years Maximum age 32 years as on 1st of August in the year of examination. Relaxable age limit is as follows: Up to max. 5 years for SC/ST candidates. Up to max. 3 years for OBC candidates.
