As you did not mentioned the govt. jobs clearly I cannot tell you more clearly but generally a govt job has the max age limit of 30 years

but relaxation is available for some reserved categories like SC/ST/OBC/PD

For SC/ST the relaxation will be upto 5 years from max age limit.

for OBC the relaxation will be upto 3 years from max age limit.

I think you are asking about Indian Engineering services because you have mentioned your Engineering diploma in the question but you are not eligible only with diploma for writing the IES you have to be definitely get qualified in engineering bachelor degree.

So be aware of this rules and all to fulfill your desire.

Generally almost all vacant posts in government sector is fulfilled through exams conducted by UPSC,SSC,UGC. For that the age limit is-
*For general category-21-30 yr.
*For OBC candidates-21-33 yr.
*For SC/ST candidates-21-35 yr.
