From June 2012 the University Grants Commission will conduct the National eligibility test which will be in Objective type form or multiple choice question pattern only.

there will be 2 sessions the first session will be of 2 papers
The Paper 1 will consist of 60 questions out of which 50 will have to attempted and this paper will be of 100 marks.
The duration of paper 1 is 1¼ Hours.

The Paper 2 will consist of 50 questions out of which all will have to attempted and this paper will be of 100 marks.
The duration of paper 1 is 1¼ Hours.

The second session will consist of Paper 3 only. It will consist of 75 questions all questions are compulsory. The paper will be of 150 marks and the duration will be 2.5 hours.
