There are plenty of options for your child even if he does not want to pursue Engineering.

BCA

If your son has interest in computer field then he can go for BCA course. Bachelor in Computer Applications is related to software and networking. However for decent job, you kid will have to pursue Masters in Computer Applications. After which leading IT companies as well small and medium businesses with offer job to your son.

BCA is a three years under graduate course. The requirement for BCA is 10+2 from recognised board with Maths as one of the subjects. Entrance exams are conducted individually by the colleges for BCA course.

B.Sc

If your son loves Science then B.Sc course would be great option for him. He can choose subjects like Botany, Physics, Mathematics, Zoology, Chemistry etc. To get admission in good colleges like Acharya Narendra Dev College, Kalindi College etc your son need to score 60 percent in 12th board. After B.Sc opt for the M.Sc course and there will be plenty of jobs available for your son. He can also become lecturer in government colleges by applying for National Eligibility Test.

BBA

After 12th science you can also go for the management course like BBA. However you need to have Maths and English as core subjects. You need complete 10+2 with at least 50 percent in Maths and English. There are several entrance exams for the BBA course. After completing BBA you should go for the MBA course.

MBBS

Your son can also choose to become doctor. However cracking MBBS entrance exam would be much harder than any other exam for the courses mentioned above. The requirement is 10+2 with Life Science or Biology as the core subjects. The toughest part is to crack entrance exams like PMT, JIPMER, AIMMS, AFMC etc.

Mass Communication/Journalism

If your son has interest is becoming journalist then degree is mass communication is also a very good option. After completing the course he will have option to work as reporter, copyeditor, editor, producer or journalist. For this course 10+2 in any stream is enough. There are entrance exam for mass communication course by several universities.

B.Com

It may sound surprising to you but if your son has no interest in science related subjects then he should switch to commerce. After B.Com he would have options like CS, ICWA or CA as profession. All these professions pays well. Alternatively after B.Com he can opt for MBA or MCA courses as well.

These are some of the options in front of your son.

He can opt for medical courses, if interested. Courses like MBBS, BDS, B.Pharma, etc are available in medical field. Courses related to fisheries or dairy science can also be selected. Science students can look for bachelor degree programs in science. The course can be pursued with specialization in streams like Physics, Mathematics, Zoology, and so on.

Hello Sir,
Your son can definitely go for medical genre. Even though he does not want to go for engineering he has to go through the same joint entrance examination process that is taken for engineering. Here the difference will be that instead of mathematics he will be giving examination on biology along with physics and chemistry. If he ranks in this examination then he will be called for a counseling process.
The higher is his rank or smaller is his rank like 100 or 300 etc., the better will be his chances for getting into better and cheaper colleges. The bigger his rank will be like 1000 or 1200 he will pushed more towards the expensive private medical colleges. After getting admitted your son will need to complete this MBBS degree within 4 and 1/2 years. If your son prefers then he can go for a further higher degree in medical which is MD.
Right now the 2012 joint examinations for medical are all over so your son will need to opt for examinations of 2013.
