To become District Collector you have to appear and qualify in Civil Service examination.

The required qualification to appear in Civil Service examination is that candidate must have passed bachelor degree in any discipline. The age limit is 21-32 years with relaxation in upper age limit.

There is no single choice of optional paper for candidates as candidates with different stream qualify in examination every year.

But, according to my opinion it will better to pursue bachelor degree in arts which will be helpful for in GS paper.

For syllabus and other information regarding examination visit at http://www.upsc.gov.in.

The District Collector is a Bureaucrat of the Indian Administrative Service.

The students who aspire to become District Collector are required to write the Civil Services Examination that is conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

Students who are appearing in this examination are required to be permanent residents of India.

Their age must be 21 years when they apply.

The minimum qualification required for the candidates to apply is a graduate degree from any discipline.

According to me, you have to take Arts stream in Graduation. Subject depend up on your taste. Because Arts stream is easier than Science and Commerce. And you can also prepare for UPSC examination along with your graduation.
