IPS stands for Indian Police Service. IPS officer plays a very important role in India to maintain law and order and volunteer to work for various intelligence organizations. The exam tor recruit IPS officer is Civil Service Examination which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

As I said earlier the responsibilities on the shoulders of IPS officer are heavy. He not only has to maintain law and order but also provide security cover to VIP. In bordering states and naxal affected states, IPS officer takes part in the counter terrorism operations by leading or working together with BSF, CRPF, RPF etc.

During the violence or riots in the state, IPS officer could have meeting with the top state officials including the Chief Minister to give ground details and obtain instructions to take necessary actions.


Eligibility:

You should be Indian Citizen.


2. Minimum Educational Qualification:

Graduation degree in any stream from a recognised university.


3. Age Limit:

Minimum - 21 years as on the 1 August of the examination year.

Maximum - 30 years is the maximum age to appear in Civil Service Examination.


4. Number of Attempts:

OBC - 7

General - 4

SC/ST - No Limit


5. Physical Requirements:

Height:

Male - 165 cm for General while 160cm for ST.

Female - 150 cm for General and 145 cm for ST.


Chest:

84 cm for Men and 79 cm for Women with 5 cm expansion for both genders.


Admission Process:

You can get the admission form online from the official website of UPSC - http://www.upsc.gov.in.

This admission form has to be filled and submit online within a given timeframe after which the link would be disabled.

I.P.S is Indian Police Services.
I.P.S exam is conducted by U.P.S.C once in a year.

This is very famous exam called as civil services Exam.

Civil Services Exam include many services:-
> I.A.S
> I.F.S
> I.R.S

Friend I.P.S exam form will be available at all head post office in district.
Or you can download for www.upsc.gov.in

You can apply in 2012.

How To Get IPS Entrance Exam Forms

The Indian Police Service(IPS) is one of the most respected government jobs in India and it is a matter of great pride and honour to join the IPS..

Selections to the IPS are done through the Civil Service Exams which are conducted by UPSC every year..

Candidate must have following qualifications in order to appear for the Civil Services Exam :-
