Hello, my daughter DOB is 15/2/2007. She is in 9th standard and she will appear Board exam of 10th ICSE in 2021 and that time she will be 14 years old. So please guide me this is right age or wrong for appearing the Board exam?

For appearing in class 10 board exams the minimum age of the student required is 14 years as on 1st January of the year of board exams.

But your daughter's DOB is 15/2/2007 as you mentioned. So according to it she will be become 14 years old on 15/2/2021. she won't be completing age of 14 years as on 1 January 2021. So she is not eligible for 2021 board exams of class 10.

As far as you are concerned about the minimum age for appearing in ICSE Class 10th board examination then for your information I would like to let you know that the same board does not has its own age criteria for appearing in board examination rather it follows the age criteria set by the concerned state board of education in which the school of candidate situated. As there is no such age limit set by CISCE for Board exams, so she can appear for Board Exams. Hence, schools only follow the directions stated by State Education department for admitting students.

Fourteen years of age is the perfect age for any candidate to appear for board examination of tenth. The eligibility criteria to apply for board exam of tenth states that candidate must have studied upto ninth standard and registered for board exam in 9th.

Then he/she can become eligible to study tenth standard and appear for board exam at whatever age he/she meets above criteria.

As such there is no age limit for appearing for the ICSE Examination. However, schools, while admitting the candidates are requested to follow the norms as set by the State Education Department of the concerned State Government.
