My date of birth is 15 April 84.. am I eligible for upsc exams 2014 ?

The age limit required to appear in UPSC examinations is 21-32 years. Upper age relaxation of 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates is applicable as per government rules. The age limit required to appear in UPSC examination varies from examination to examination and from post to post. For some of the examinations like CDS which is conducted by UPSC, the maximum age limit is 24 years, so, you are not eligible to appear in UPSC CDS examination. Since, you have completed 32 years of age, you are eligible to appear in UPSC examinations only if you belong to reserved category.

Eligibility Criteria Required for UPSC Examination:

As far as your Date of Birth is concerned, you are not eligible to apply for UPSC Examinations if you belong to Unreserved/ General Category. Based on your Date of Birth, you will complete 32 years on 15th April, 2016 and enter into 33rd year. So whether you are eligible or not basically depend upon your caste category. The minimum age required to appear in UPSC Examination is "21 years" and the maximum age must not exceed 30 years.

For General (Unreserved) Category Candidates - 21 to 30 years

For OBC Category Candidates - 21 to 33 years

For SC/ ST Category Candidates - 21 to 35 years

For Ex-Servicemen/ PWD Candidates - 21 to 35/40.

So based on the above age criteria, you are not eligible to appear in UPSC based recruitments when you belong to General Candidates. On the other case, you are eligible to apply for this recruitment when you belong to other than General Category.

As per age criteria, you are eligible for UPSC exam like Civil Service Exam.

Those candidates who have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university are eligible for Civil Service exam. This exam doesn't require any percentage marks in graduation degree.

Age Criteria:

For General: 21 to 32 years
For OBC: 21 to 35 years
For SC/ST: 21 to 37 years

For General: 5
For OBC: 9
For SC/ST: No Restriction

Yes no doubt you are eligible for UPSC exam having date of birth 15th April 1984 as maximum age limit for UPSC exam is 32 years but age relaxation is given to other category according to govt.norms.
