Hello Sir,
I am a student of Communicative English with Media Studies, 2nd year. I want to join Indian Air Force. Am I eligible after completing my graduation in this field to join Indian Air force?

You can join for the Ground duty Branch of Air force after passing Post Graduation degree in any discipline.

One can join Indian Air Force after completing Graduation through CDS or AFCAT exam.

CDS stands for Combined Defense Services Exam .

UPSC conducts CDS exam twice a year to make recruitment in the Indian Defense Services .

Eligibility for CDS exam :-

-The candidate must be an Indian.

-The qualification required for Indian Military Academy/Officer's Training Academy is Graduation in any discipline,Bachelor of Engineering for Indian Naval Academy and 10+2 level degree with Physics and Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering for Indian Air Force Academy.

-The age limit to apply for Indian Military Academy is from 19 years to 24 years,for Indian Naval Academy,it is from 19 years to 22 years,for Indian Air Force Academy,it is from 19 years to 23 years and for Officer's Training Academy,it is from 19 years to 25 years .

-The selection process involves of

* Written Exam

* Interview by Services Selection Board.


AFCAT stands for Air Force Common Admission Test .

Recruitment in Technical Branch,Flying branch and Ground duty branch of Indian Air Force is made through AFCAT exam.

The eligibility criteria for AFCAT exam are as under :-

Flying branch :

-The candidate age limit should be in between 20 - 24 years .

-The candidate should have passed Graduation in any discipline with at least 60% marks from a recognized university .

-The candidate should have passed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics .

-The candidate should have passed Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT).

Technical Branch:

-The candidate age limit should be in between 20 - 26 years .

-The candidate should have passed Bachelor of Engineering with at least 60% marks from a recognized university .

Ground duty branch :

-The candidate age limit should be in between 20 - 26 years .

-The candidate should have passed Post Graduation degree in any stream with at least 50% marks from a recognized university . .

Screening Test

Psychological Test ,

Group discussion & Interview .

As per educational qualification, you are not eligible for Indian Air Force exam. This exam is conducted by CDS through SSB.

CDS stands for Combined Defence Service exam. CDS exam doesn't require any percentage marks in graduation degree.

Eligibility criteria:-

Indian Air force academy: You should have completed engineering graduation or B.Sc with physics, mathematics from a recognized university.

Age Criteria:-

Indian Air Force Academy : 19 to 23 years

No, you are not eligible to appear for CDS entrance examination to get recruitment in Air Force.

The required qualification for recruitment in Air Force is candidate must have passed bachelor degree in technology or have bachelor in Science with mathematics or physics.

The age limit to appear for examination is 19-23 years. So, you are not eligible to appear for examination. To get detail information about examination visit at www.upsc.gov.in.
