Here are some roles & responsibilities:

1. Maintaining Law and Order: Constables are responsible for maintaining public peace and order within their assigned area. This involves patrolling, preventing and detecting criminal activities, responding to emergency calls, and ensuring public safety.

2. Crime Prevention: They play a crucial role in crime prevention by conducting regular surveillance, gathering intelligence, and identifying potential threats or criminal activities. Constables may also participate in community policing initiatives to build trust and establish law enforcement partnerships.

3. Traffic Control: Constables often regulate traffic flow, enforce traffic rules and regulations, and ensure road safety. They may direct traffic during congested periods, investigate accidents, and issue traffic citations when necessary.

4. Investigation and Reporting: Constables assist senior officers by collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing reports related to crimes or incidents. They play a vital role in the initial stages of investigations, providing necessary information that aids in the decision-making process.

5. Crowd Control: During public gatherings, protests, or events, constables help maintain public order, manage crowds, and ensure the safety of participants and spectators. They may work alongside other law enforcement agencies to manage large-scale events effectively.

6. Assisting the Public: Constables often provide assistance to individuals in need. This can involve responding to distress calls, offering first aid, guiding lost individuals, and providing general support and guidance to the public as required.

7. Court Duty: Constables may be required to present evidence or provide testimony in court proceedings. They may also serve legal documents, such as summons or warrants, and ensure the secure transportation of prisoners between court and correctional facilities.
