Sir, I am preparing for the Board exam of 10th standard. I have also filled up application form of Polytechnic Diploma course. But, my aim is to study BTech. So, I would like to know that studying Higher Secondary is compulsory for BTech study?

As you have completed your 10th standard and now you want to pursue Polytechnic but your aim is to pursue BTech then I would like to tell you that when you will complete your 3 years diploma in engineering then you will be eligible to apply for LEET examination to get admission directly in second year of B.Tech course.


I would like to suggest you that you should complete your 12th standard and after that you can apply for BTech course.

You have two different ways to pursue BTech and the first one is that you can complete your 10th standard and after that you can pursue polytechnic diploma course in engineering that is of 3 years duration and after completion of this polytechnic diploma course you can appear in lateral entry entrance test and through that examination you will get admission directly in 2nd year of BTech course.

The second choice is that is after completion of 10th standard you will have to complete your 12th standard with non medical stream and after completing 12th standard you will have to appear in JEE examination and through that examination you will get admission in 4 years B. Tech course.

You need to have class 12th with PCM or any 3 year engineering diploma qualification, if you are looking for B.Tech admission. Hence, no need to worry, if you are taking admission in polytechnic diploma.

Just make sure you get admission at a recognized polytechnic diploma of 3 years duration. Also make sure you choose the correct engineering stream, according to your higher education choice.
