Anyone can post the answers anytime. What's important is quality.

If we limit the time to say 12 hours before end time. How would that change things? people will then post maximum posts just before when the time limit ends.

Hello Sir Even i am confused regarding timings of post definitely it happens that most of us try to post as many answer they can within the limited time and earn points on that basis because of which many of us who are continuous daily posting there answers suffer. So i would like to suggest you to please to take into your account average post per day by any member in deciding the winners of scholarship.

With the upcoming modification in points system, those members who try to increase the points by posting useless answers - will find that they are getting less points for each post, if they keep posting useless answers, the points/post will keep getting decreased.

As for "average posts per day", an average can't be used to measure the consistency.

If person A posts 10 useful answers over 10 days. (that is one per day). A person B posts 10 useful answers on the last day. Average posts for each of them is still 1 post/day.

However, we'll surely keep optimizing the algorithm of points system.

It will be better if in anyway we are able to know that weather students/members are really getting benefit from our posts.

I mean to say that how we can understand that we are able to clear there doubts,is there any feedback from students on this.

Thus we are really helping student in getting there doubts clear or helping them to take right decision?

The people who ask questions get the answers by emails. So we don't require them to visit the forum. Most askers wouldn't care to comeback and post "thanks".

I think adding a 'live chat section' is a good idea,it will really works.

But a complete ful flegd system is required for it.

I mean to say suppose if a student ask me a question but I am not able to answer it,so I can transfer it to a relevent member,or chat section will be distributed among the members according to there area of specialisation or else.

I just want to say that we 'chatter section' is going to be added then it should be more student friendly and member friendly also,easy to handle.

The chat section will be meant for members to interact with each other, because visitor messaging system is not so great. We don't intend to make it (chat section) a place for question answering.

It will be member friendly for sure. We plan to allow only those members to chat who have more than 20 posts overall.

i want to add something to the point system.
as u said "it's encouraging for new members to see themselves in the rankings list right after they make a few posts". for this- if you give some fix points, like 5 now, for each post instantly and after on the basis of the quality of post the marks can be increased on the basis of multipliers. this will also encourage people to post quality ans when one will see increased marks next day or after 2 days

It's very cumbersome for us to analyze quality of posts made by each member. After introducing multiplier system what we will do is we will just rate those members who are in like top 20. As soon as a new member gets into that league we'd analyze his/her posts and update the corresponding value of the multiplier.

i got an small idea,
you can divide the questions into different sections like examinations,academics,admissions etc .it will be more easy to answer the doubts and also asking doubts would be more easy

We wanted to do that right from the beginning, but what worried us was that users might get a little confused with the interface. An averagd new member doesn't know what forum is for. So to ensure that there is one separate and single section for asking questions, we decided to be with the current architrcture of forum. However, making subsections is indeed in our to-do list.

i was thinking if there is a separate section " hot news"
where we could write about new applications and opportunities which we know and want to share with all....
like someone asks for a application and we answer that it will be released in 2 weeks and then after 2 weeks when the forms are out then we can notify in the section that the forms are out ........and then if some one has queries on that then he can post under that forum............
how is the suggestion.......

New points system kept us busy all through in the last two days. Fresh questions are coming sometime later today.

I think it will be better if only the members who have more then 50 posts overall are allowed for chat.

great to see that chat is working,i think its an great idea.....

the multiplier system is good,but cant we know how much is our multiplier points.i mean how many points we are getting for an answer

Is new point system working efficiently ?

This because,i have noticed that previously I was getting 5 points for posting a good answer,now I am getting 8 points weather my answer is brief and to the point or weather it is 13 lines disciptive.

So,it will be better if my doubt is cleared soon.

It's very good seems this is the first time done by you,.,.it w ill help student a lot,.about their querries,,.and answers of them by the experts....it seems best,.,.

sir please tell me on what basis the points are being given i mean explain more about the multiplier system

with so much of competition will it be possible to take the scholarship program a long way.......as the questions are limited and the frequency of questions is less than that of the answers........
i realize after 3 scholarship that most of the senior members are getting less questions to answer.....
although it is good for new members ....that they get a chance to win the scholarship.....

but on the other hand it seems to be injustice to senior members....who can answer well but don't have that many questions.......

so it is now required to increase the question database......
so that the scholarship program may go longer.......

i hope you will consider this......

i will suggest that the queries of people are shown immediately because people are getting there answers really late and all our efforts are becoming waste and the answering is just becoming only a means to score more points and nothing else,
you can check the questions later and if there is any problem then you can delete it,and if you are worrying about any controversies could be created then you can give an disclaimer that you people are not responsible for any comments or question and it is the individual view of the poster in that way you can avoid them,
but please try to make sure that questions are shown immediately because i don't want to waste my time answering questions and there is no use of the answer.

I also want to add the time take to approve a question that is too long that,even some students lost the chance,like last date for applying to any entrance etc.just because of late approval.

i think more efficient programming is required in order to avoid this types of troubles.

Approving questions is a very tedious task. Most questions that are asked here are either incomplete or ambiguous. However, we are working to resolve the "late approval" issue. No answer is getting wasted. As you know Question/Answers are getting saved here forever, so if someone has a question that was previously answered here, he won't have to ask again.

for senior members its really tough to answer as there are not many questions left,
please give us more questions so that we don't suffer on the last day

i have got a suggestion....
to avoid the problems faced on the result day by the point system....

you can declare the result only after all the posts till 12 o'clock have been approved......
as we see a lot of change in the rankings as soon as the answers are approved......

the results can be declared after a day .....so that you get sufficient time to approve the posts...........

we get points as soon as we post the answers , but the points reduce after some time if the answer is not satisfactory......

one can easily take advantage of this and post a lot of answers before 12 o'clock and get points instantaneously......and can even win the scholarship....

so in order to avoid this situation please take your own time to approve or disapprove posts till 12 o'clock and then declare results after all posts have been approves......then there will be a different ranking list......

it will be good if implemented.........

Results are announced only after we confirm that rankings won't change after approval of all posts. That is not any problem.

there are many outdated questions , which have been satisfactorily answered ........so what if you block those questions ......as those questions become a bonus for some of the new members......and there is no need of some more posts to those questions......

so it will be good if you block such questions permanently......so that no one can take advantage of those questions........

It's hard to find accurately those thread which have got enough satisfactory answers. If one tries to take advantage, the multiplier system will take care of it.

there is a spelling mistake in the ranking and scholarship page,as it is written:

1st Rank ---- Rs.1000/- and a valuable cetificate

here i think it should be 'CERTIFICATE' and not 'CETIFICATE'.
hope you correct it as soon as possible ,because it doesn't look healthy for such a huge site.

also i want to ask you about the reason behind decrease in my points,i thing its due to the fact that i post same answer for so many questions.
but i want to tell you that i am not copying anyone's answer ,all answers are mine.and posting same answers for same type of questions is justified i think.

As for decrease in points, I can't explain why it happened. If you are confident about answers, keep it up. Don't you worry about points, focus on quality answers. Quality beats quantity here.

If you see same questions, then try to write similar answer in different words. In that way the information would still be same and it won't be called copied.

Moreover, we'll make a thread on "How to post helpful answers which can get you more points?". We'll do it before start of next session of scholarship.

i would like to get feed back on my answers from the people whose questions i have answered so that i can know how am i able to help people ,if it is not possible then you can atleast make some provision for voting kind of thing for people who can vote for the best answer giver among the top ten of the last scholarship.
the guy who gets the maximum vote ,gets additional 100 points in the current scholarship,this will surely make people to answer better

That voting mechanism could prove to be really useful and encouraging. But we fear that some members might try to abuse the voting system by making multiple accounts or by asking friends to vote on their answers. We are noting your point at this time. We'll keep it in mind in future.

The new questions are added to pending queue. Currently the pending queue is large enough that new questions will take time in approval.

Check "Remember Me" when you login, it'll keep you logged in for long.
