Re: Research topic for PhD in Medical Microbiology?
There are various research topics on Medical Microbiology. Many are undergoing projects while some have already been performed and rest on the verge of commencement. It is essential that the Phd candidates prepare their own research topic as it will help in the advancement of the concerned field rather merely working on old topics or copying other projects. Some of the research topics on medical microbiology are:-
-Imipenem susceptibility pattern among Pseudomonas species isolated from various clinical specimens. -Detection of ESBL and Amp C beta lactamase production in E.coli and Klebsiella species from various clinical isolates. -Antibiotic susceptibility pattern of Acinetobacter species causing bacteremia over a period of 7 years. -Cryptococcal meningitis in a tertiary care hospital with anti fungal susceptibility testing. -Candida speciation and anti fungal susceptibility testing. -Extraction of P pili from uropathogenic E.coli by PCR. -Comparison of conventional method and modified three dimensional test in the detection of Amp C. enzyme. -Effect of Silver Nitrate on Drug resistant Bacteria. -MIC of Escherichia coli from urinary isolates. -Effect of bleach digestion on sputum. -Speciation, Virulence factors & Antibiotic susceptibility in Pseudomonas. -Isolation of mec A gene from Staphylococcus aureus using PCR. -Effect of antiseptics on biofilms by pathogenic bacteria. -Speciation, virulence factors & antibiotic susceptibility in Pseudomonas. -Comparison of antibiotic resistance pattern and virulence factors between MRSA and MSSA. -Antibiotic Resistance and virulence markers in Community Acquired Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus. -Comparison of two diagnostic methods of Helicobacter pylori along with clinico epidemiological study -Identification of susceptibility trends of Moraxella species isolated from clinical samples -Study of Rotavirus and Adenovirus gastroenteritis in children below 5 years of age Biocide-Antibiotic cross resistance in Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and E.coli -Isolation, identification and in vitro drug susceptibility testing of Dermatophytes -Vancomycin susceptibility pattern of MRSA isolates in KMC hospitals -Comparison of Molecular Diagnostics and automated blood culture for the diagnosis of Neonatal septicaemia -Utility of Serology, Blood culture and Molecular method in diagnosis of typhoid fever and -Molecular typing of isolated Salmonella typhi and S. paratyphi A -Clinico microbiological studies of Klebsiella spp isolated from various specimens -Uropathogenic Escherichia coli virulence factors and drug susceptibility pattern -Identification of species and antifungal susceptibility of Candida species isolated from Candidosis -Nosocomial infections due to Acinetobacter spp. -Occurrence of extended spectrum beta lactamase and Amp C beta lactamase and its susceptibility to newer antimicrobial agents among gram negative clinical isolates from Govt. Wenlock Hospital. -Infections with Metallo Beta Lactamase producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa - epidemiology, microbiology and clinical outcomes. -Evaluation of Febrile patients for Leptospirosis by serological and Molecular methods. -The Role of Streptococcus species in the causation of skin and soft tissue infections, including acute pharyngitis with special emphasis on Group A Streptococcus. -Clinico microbiological study of infections in intensive care unit and study of antimicrobial resistance in bacterial isolates |
