The paper has 8 questions in all and 100 marks in total. The candidates are required to answer any five questions, each question carrying 20 marks. The questions are all descriptive. Some of the questions are: what are the various types of soil nutrients in soil, how do they help the plants and microbes, describe the heavy-metal pollution and its ecological effects, write an essay on MSW and their quantities and characteristics, comment on vermi composting and sanitary land fill methods in solid waste disposal, explain the physical, chemical and biological methods of hazardous waste management, how are the industrial and hospital hazardous wastes are managed, segregated and recovered, explain the roles of incineration, pyrolysis and composting in municipal solid waste management, highlight the salient aspects of the Hazardous waste (management and handling) rules 1989, what are the types of chemical fertilizers and insecticides contamination in the soil and their impacts.
