The paper on Electromagnetic theory is taught to the students of Electrical and Electromagnetic Engineering in their fifth semester. It is chiefly a mathematics (numerical problems) oriented paper but it also contains theoretical questions on Electromagnetism. Since most of the paper contains math problems, it is a very scoring paper in which students can score very high marks with consistent practice. The paper is usually divided into sections, out of which the first question is compulsory while there is a choice between the other questions. There are questions on vectors, vector problems, and mathematical problems on electric field, capacitance and mathematical proofs of theories such as Maxwell’s equations. The theoretical part of the question paper includes short notes on topics such as Resistivity, Bandwidth, Directivity and Monopole Antenna. Most theoretical questions also include application type problems so it would not be wise to rely completely on text book knowledge but also practice from the older question papers to sharpen the skills.
