This subject tests the knowledge of officers of the West Bengal Civil Service in criminal law and law of evidence. Law is one of the essential things which every civil servant is expected to know. Questions are asked from topics like understanding of different types of crimes like dacoity, robbery, homicides, criminal conspiracy, the different sections of the Indian Penal Code. The paper also contains case studies, in which the understanding and aptitude of the officers is tested. It also contains questions on the topics like powers of judges, and powers of different officers. Questions based on the different acts of the IPC are also asked. The paper has three sections, and there are ample choices to answer the questions. To score good marks in this paper one needs to have a grasp over the subject of Law.
