The paper pattern continues to change each year. There is an objective section and a theoretical section. The paper consists of 30 marks and is fully objective. There are five broad questions divided into subparts. The first section has five questions of one mark each; questions are on medical terminology, such as the terms for painful and difficult menstruation, condition of fear without any cause, surgical fixation of a joint, downward displacement of the spleen. The short questions are of 3 marks each, common questions are explain the basic concepts of medical terminology, explain what is meant by benign and malignant with suitable examples, write short notes on diarrhoea and dysentery, write the differences between ectomy and otomy, write the medical terms which originate from Arabic and Modern German. Elaborate questions are of 10 marks each, students have to answer 3 questions such as: enumerate the elements of medical terminology giving four examples of each kind, explain the chief sources of medical words with examples.
