Biochemistry, as the name suggests, combines in itself two major subjects, Biology and Chemistry. For the students of Pharmacy, Biochemistry is everything along with Pharmaceutics as they have to work on various medicines and find their implications on human body. They have to make sure that the medicines are newly launched in the market does not have any side effects otherwise the medicine would be banned and the company will have to face some legal problems. Hence, the students should have an in-depth knowledge to do make sure that the experiments done will fetch proper results.

Topics taught in this paper:

The topics which are discussed in this paper are different types of medicines based on hormonal preparation, their composition, structure of medicines, etc.

Division of paper:

The question paper is divided into three parts as Part I, Part II and Part III. Part I contains essay type questions, part II is of short answers and Part III belongs to short notes type questions.

Time and marks allotted:

The total marks that could be obtained in this paper is 90 and the time limit provided for solving it is of three hours

Paper Pattern:

There are total 20 questions in this paper which are divided into three parts. The first part is the essay type. There are total three questions in this paper of which only two are to be answered correctly. The total mark contained by this section is 40. The next section of the paper is “short notes type”. There are total 10 questions in this paper. Out of these 10 questions, only 8 are required to be answered correctly. The maximum marks contained by this section are 40. The last section of the paper contains 7 questions of which only 5 are to be answered correctly with a maximum 10 mark contained by this section.
