It is important to understand why computers are necessary in education and how they can be used to provide the best of education. Some of the main topics covered in this course are types of software, ways of classification of computers, operating systems and its different types, scanners, ways in which MS-word documents help teachers, uses of spreadsheets, URL and its purposes, functions and role of the Central Processing Unit in the computer, different menus in a spreadsheet, different kinds of printers , ways in which the internet help in teaching and learning community, cyber resources, uses of email, ways in which a powerpoint acts as an instrument for teachers, ways to control virus while operating a computer, development in Windows, search engines, characteristics of a computer, CAI and its advantages and disadvantages , expansion of HTML and its different applications, different types of computer networking, educational applications of web resources. The 75 marks for this paper are distributed as 20 marks for 1st part, 25 marks for 2nd part and 30 marks for last part. In first part from 12 questions, every question holding 2 marks, and you have to answer 10. From 2nd part you have to answer 5 from 8 (every question holding 5 marks). From the last part both the questions are compulsory, though you get an alternative in each of them.
