A candidate gets 3 hours to complete this paper. The total marks of such a paper are 75 and there are twenty two questions in all divided among three sections. Part I contains twelve questions of 2 marks each, of which the candidate has to answer ten. Part II contains eight questions of 5 marks each, of which the candidate has to answer five and Part III has two questions of 15 marks each; both are compulsory. However, questions may have internal choices and may be sub-divided. Questions are given both in English and in Tamil version. Some of the questions are: aims of Basic Education, what is educational technology, factors influencing social change, special features of Gurukula system of education, similarities and differences between Montessori and Kindergarten methods, Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy of Education, discussion of the factors that led to the emergence of open and distance learning system in India etc.
