Education and Career Forum

There are ten questions in all and the candidates must answer 5 questions. These 5 questions together make up the 80 marks for this paper. Each question consists of 16 marks. The first question has sections for reference to the context; passages are from Early Renaissance texts to Jacobean poetry. The rest of the questions are broad questions. some of the important questions are: consider the “Prologue” of Canterbury Tales as a portrait gallery of fourteenth century England, discuss “Faerie Queen” as an allegorical poem, write a note on the poetry of Wyatt and the Earl of Surrey and discuss the elements of Elizabethan poetry in their work, discuss “The Duchess of Malfi” as a revenge tragedy, discuss Bacon’s utilitarian approach to life in the light of his Essays, discuss the role of the “Fool” in King Lear, write a note on the pastoral element in As You Like It. All answers have to be detailed and supplemented with references.
