Courses in Nanotechnology are offered basically at Postgraduate and research levels. The elite technological universities viz. IITs, IISc, Jadavpur University, BHU and few others are offering MTech degree and research facilities in this field. The Amity University in New Delhi also offers a five-and-a-half-year integrated M. Tech, course in Nanotechnology.

Currently, no course in Nanotechnology is offered at the Graduation level, in any reputed institute in India. However, the IIT`s are considering the option of starting a B. Tech programs in Nanotechnology very soon.

Eligibility

Minimum Educational Qualification: For pursuing ME/MTech program in nanotechnology one should have completed Btech in Mechanical, Chemical, Electronic, Biotechnology, Computer Science etc or MSc in Physics, Electronics, Chemistry or Life Sciences. For PhD program in Nanotechnology, one should have completed an M. Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, Electronic, Biotechnology, Computer Science etc. or an M. Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Biotechnology, Computer Science etc.

Skills Set: Candidates seeking admission to MTech/PhD in nanotechnology should have scientific bent of mind and adequate interests for research work. A sound analytical brain and computer programming skills will be an advantage. The candidates must be hard working as research in this field needs spending long hours in the laboratory.

Nanotechnology is one of the most interesting and wide area of research and it can lead to great technological advancement.

Nanotechnology is a special branch of science as it tries to blend and combine physics, chemistry, biolog and engineering. It basically deals with the design and manufacture of extremely small and electronic circuits and mechanical devices.

The popularity of this field is world wide but its importance and application have been recently introduced in India. It is still at its premature stage in India.

At present none of the universities in India offers undergraduate courses in Nanotechnology.

Therefore if you have a bachelor's degree in physics, chemistry or mathematics then you can apply for post graduation in nanotechnology. 50 percent of marks at graduation level is necessary.
