The Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences shortly called as ILBS was established by the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi. It is an autonomous institution working under the Societies Registration Act and it has been conferred with the status of Deemed to be University by the University Grants Commission. The institute is working with the mission of becoming a dedicated international center of excellence for the management and diagnosis of biliary and liver related diseases and to offer advanced research and training in the field of hepato biliary sciences. The institute lays attention to patient care of excellent quality, health research of social relevance and training of international standards.
About M. Ch in Hepato Pancreato Biliary Surgery course:
The duration of M. Ch in Hepato Pancreato Biliary Surgery is three years and the institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences is approved with an intake capacity of two students per year for this course.
Eligibility requirement for admission:
For getting into the M. Ch in Hepato Pancreato Biliary Surgery course, candidates must have completed their MS in General Surgery from an Indian university or Diplomat of National Board in General Surgery or any other examination as recognized by the institute in this regard. Candidates must have completed MS exam before the date of entrance examination failing which candidates will not be allowed to appear for the entrance examination for admission to the M. Ch in Hepato Pancreato Biliary Surgery. If the candidates are waiting for their results, they can mention the same in the pass certificate compulsorily to the controller of Examination one day before the entrance test for collection of hall ticket.
Mode of selection:
As mentioned earlier, candidates will have to get through the entrance examination for admission to the M. Ch in Hepato Pancreato Biliary Surgery course and selection of candidates will be done based on the merit secured in the entrance examination. The admission procedure will include the following:
• 70 marks for objective type entrance test for merit and grading aptitude and the test will extend to a duration of 90 minutes with 100 multiple choice question
• 30 marks will be awarded for departmental assessment and interview
If more than one candidate has acquired the same percentage of marks in the entrance examination, merit list will be prepared taking into consideration the minimum number of attempts in which candidate has cleared his/her MBBS/DNB/MS/MD and the marks secured in the final MBBS examination. Age of candidates will also be considered and preference will be given to elder candidates.
Stipend:
Selected candidates will be offered with monthly stipend for a period of 36 months and stay in hostel is compulsory for candidates of M. Ch course.
Normally, the institute issues admission notification in leading newspapers invited applications from eligible candidates for M. Ch course and candidates meeting the eligibility requirement can apply for getting into their dream course.
