Medical College:

Rajiv Gandhi Medical College and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital came into existence in the year 1992 and the college is managed by the Municipal Corporation of the Thane. The college is affiliated to Mumbai University and it is offering MBBS course with an intake capacity of 60 students per year. The duration of the MBBS course offered by the college is four-and-half years plus one-year internship. Admission to the MBBS course is done based on the marks secured by the students in the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test.

Law College:

As the name implies, Vidya Prasarak Mandal’s Thane Municipal Corporation Law College is managed by the Municipal Corporation of Thane and the college is affiliated to Mumbai University. It is a co-education college offering education in the faculty of law alone and the course offered by the college is LLB with an intake capacity of 320 students per year.

Arts, Science & Commerce Colleges:

Of the six government-run colleges operating in the city of Thane, which are affiliated to the Mumbai University, the first three colleges offer education in arts and commerce stream alone, while the final three colleges offer education in all three faculties namely, arts, science and commerce.
