The district of Buldhana is located in the division of Amravati in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The district is located at the westernmost border of the region of Vidarbha at a distance of about 500 kms from the capital city of Mumbai. The district is bounded by the districts of Aurangabad and Jalgaon on the west, district of Jalna on the south, District of Amravati on the east and by the cities of Wahim and Akola in the north.

The district got its name after the term Bhil Thane, which means place of Bhils. Bhils is nothing, but a tribal group. When it comes to education in this district, there are a number of schools offering secondary and primary education and most of the schools follows SSC pattern of the state of Maharashtra. Education College:

Government College of Education came into existence in the year 2009 and the college is located in the Chikhali Road. The college offers PG teacher education course (i.e.) Master of Education course with affiliation from the Sant Gadaga Baba Amravati University with an approved intake capacity of 25 students per year for this course. This course is also approved by the National Council for Teacher Education.

Polytechnic College:

Government Polytechnic, Khamgaon came into existence in the year 1961 and the college is offering diploma courses in the following subjects with approval from the Technical Education Board of the state of Maharashtra:

Computer Engineering

Electronics & Communication Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

Civil Engineering

The institute is permitted to admit 60 students per year for all these courses, except for Mechanical Engineering Diploma for which its intake capacity is 120 students per year.

ITIs:

There are two government-run Industrial Training Institutions in the district of Buldhana each at Chikhli and Kahmgaon and these institutions offer the best industrial training education. These institutions are functioning under the control of the government of Maharashtra to offer the best industrial training courses in such a way that students can catch up a bright future.

Even though, the number of government colleges is lesser in this district, there a number of private colleges offering the best education.
