Government Medical College, Chandigarh
The Government Medical College & Hospital was initially an endeavour to provide the students of Chandigarh a platform for studying medical at the graduate level. Previously, Chandigarh lacked a college that would conduct a medical course at the graduate level, even though it had Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (IPGMER) which provided medical courses at the post graduate level. It is affiliated to the Punjab University. The main objective of this college is to fulfil the great deficiency of an undergraduate Medical College in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Campus
Infrastructure of the college is great. It provides the students with facilities like library, hostel, food and recreation. The Government Medical College faces tremendous competition from other colleges regarding infrastructure, but by far it is considered as the one of the top colleges of Chandigarh in terms of infrastructure.

Admission Procedure
Applications for the courses are available from the Government Medical College, Sector 32, Chandigarh. The application form costs about Rs. 200. A counselling will take place thereafter for admission in the college.

The students may be absorbed by the college itself, for various teaching and administrative posts. Other reputed hospitals and nursing homes also recruit students from this college. Students also pursue their masters and go on for higher studies.

my son is graduating from high school from one of the schools in canada at the end of june, 2011. He is interested to apply at the medical college to pursue his degree in medicine.
