Vellore Institute of Technology is a renowned Technological Institute, located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, and is affiliated to the Chennai University. A well known institute with students from all over the globe, the institute offers undergraduate and post graduate programs in Engineering and Science with over 40 departments, and around 5000 students with faculty strength of 500. Research programs and fellowships are also conducted in the Institute, and it’s a full fledged private institute, however due to its excellence, it is high in demand, and over 3 lakh students appear for the entrance examination of the college.
The official website of the institute is quite a professional one with various sections arranged in a tabbed format. A well organized and a properly managed website with not too much graphics, and also having a good download speed due to this factor, the website can be easily loaded in the remotest part of the country with the slowest connection. Further the look and feel is highly professional, and that professional look actually shows the standard of the institute.
The top of the home page constitutes of the VIT logo and just below that, the menu bar with tabs is located. The tabs include Home, Academics, Campus Life, Placement, Schools, Research, My VIT, and News. On the left hand side of the home page there is a list of links, which consists of the following options viz, About VIT, Administration, International Relations, Examinations, Infrastructure, IQAC, Outreach, VIT in Press, VIP’s visit, Careers @ VIT, Contact Info. Below the list is links to a campus tour and the Aerial view of the Campus. The center of the screen occupies the Spotlight with various events listed in the way the events happened, something like what’s going on in VIT. On the right side is the event list of the Chennai Campus, and some Campus Snapshots.
