Institute of Advanced Study in Education came into existence in the year 1956 as PGBT College. The college commenced to offer PG course in Education from the year 1964 and it was renamed as Government College of Education in the year 1975. Later, the institute was upgraded with its present name in the year 1998 and it offers courses with affiliation from the Brakatullah University and with approval from the National Council for Teacher Education.

• Bachelor of Education

• Master of Education

Admission Procedure:

Bachelor of Education: There are totally 120 seats for this course and until the year 2001-2002, the college offered admission to 50% of seats through state level pre. B. Ed examination conducted by the Professional Examination Board of the state of Madhya Pradesh for which, candidates with 45% marks at the graduation level were admitted. Balance 50% of seats was reserved for untrained departmental candidates, whose seniority were calculated at the district education office and list of selected candidates were sent to the institution for admission. In this method, both in-service and fresh candidates were offered coaching in the institution in the same environment. However, from the academic year 2002-2003, the backlog untrained departmental teachers forced the government to reserve 100% seats for departmental candidates and therefore, only untrained teachers of state government schools are admitted to this course.

Master of Education: For this course, the institute is approved with an intake capacity of 20 students per year. Admissions to this course are regulated by the policies of the government.
