Karnataka SSLC examination is conducted by KSEEB. Students can choose their first language from the subjects offered by the board. Sanskrit is one of the subjects. The pattern of the examination of the subject is given in the following.

The exam of Sanskrit is a three hour exam carrying a a total of 125 marks. There are two sections in the paper of Sanskrit- Part A and Part B. part A has all multiple choice type questions. Each of the questions has four options, out of which only one is correct. The mark carried by each of the students is 1 and the number of questions is 50. There is space provided below each question to write the answer.

Part B has 25 questions in all. The questions are of diversified types. There are short answer type questions carrying 2 and 3 marks. Students have to answer questions directly given from the texts included in the syllabus. Some questions are about writing short notes on literary men of the language. Students are given the word limit for each of the questions. Questions from grammar are also there. Some questions are there about writing essays and letters. These questions are usually of 5 marks.
