The university came into existence in the year 2004 and the university was inaugurated on the 16th of April 2005 by the former Prime Minister of the nation Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee amidst the greatening of eminent politicians, social workers, literatures, educationalists and eminent journalists. The university was given this name in honor of Sri Kushabhau Thakre, who was a great political leader of the nation.
