Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda came into existence in the year 2007 and it is a public university operating form the district of Nalgonda located in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The university is acting as a state university and the previous name of the university is Nalgonda University.

The university was established by the Andhra Pradesh Government in the year 2007 and it meets the higher education requirements in the area of Nalgonda with the primary objective of accomplishing educational excellence. The university also seeks to establish the rapport with the rural farming communities as well as rural artisans apart from exposing its alumni to the ever-changing business, technological, scientific, cultural, socio-economic and political paradigms in the world.
