Cosmetology deals with the study and application of various beauty treatments. Beauty is of high importance in today’s world. The Cosmetologists mainly work on bringing forward the inherent beauty within one’s appearance. Their work mainly involves skin care, electrology, hair styling, etc. As per the customer’s choice, they do facials, manicures and pedicures too so as to have a new clean look. There are two sectors in Cosmetology – Medical and Non – Medical Cosmetology. For joining the Medical Post graduation course in Cosmetology, the candidates should be MBBS graduates. There is no required qualification for studying the non-medical Cosmetology course. Any individual aged above 17 years can do the course. The candidates are required to pass a written test conducted by the Cosmetology School.

The hair stylers perform various activities like texturing, straightening, coloring, stylish hair cutting, etc. In Medical Cosmetology, the doctors give due care to the external parts of human body. Their work pattern includes correcting deformities in human body, lifting of body parts, liposuction etc. Since it is a growing sector, there is much scope in this field.
