Madurai Institute of Social Sciences was established in the year 1969 on the 2nd of October to mark the Birth centenary day of the Father of the Nation. The institute is affiliated to Madurai Kamarajar University and it holds the pride of being the first of its kind to offer courses with respect to human resource management and professional social work in the whole of South India.

Courses offered:

The institute is offering courses through the departments of computer science & information technology, commerce, human resource management and social sciences. The list of courses offered by the institution through these departments is given below:

• Master of social work

• Master of Human Resource Management

• Bachelor of Commerce

• Bachelor of science in computer science

• PG diploma course in computer application

• PG diploma course in counseling

Eligibility for admission:

Candidates who have completed their degree course in any discipline from Madurai Kamarajar University or any other approved university can apply to the MSW & MHRM course offered by the institution. For Bachelor of commerce, candidates must have completed their 10+2 with accountancy and commerce. For B. Sc computer science, candidates who have completed their 10+2 with mathematics and any one of computer science, chemistry and physics are eligible for admission. For diploma courses, candidates must be degree holders from Madurai Kamarajar University or from any other approved university.

Admission Procedure:

For the MSW & MHRM courses conducted by the institution, selection of candidates is based on their performance in the entrance examination conducted by the institution. Selection of candidates for the other courses is based on the marks secured by them in the qualifying examinations.

Library and computer center in Madurai Institute of Social Science:

The institution has a well-equipped library with a collection of over 10000 books and 75 magazines and the computer center in the institute has a collection of over 45 computers connected through server.
