The name Magna of the Magna College of Engineering has a twofold meaning. First, the word is coined from the names of the founder’s parents- Nayagam and Magdelene. Then, the word magna means greatness in Latin. The college is built on the foundations of Indian tradition and heritage.

Infrastructure

The college is located in a well connected part of the metropolitan city of Chennai. The college campus is large enough and has all the basic amenities necessary. The faculties are experienced and most of them have prior teaching experiences in Anna University. The facility of e-Learning distinguishes Magna College from its contemporaries. All the subjects are taught using audio and video aids. Besides technical education, the college also takes keen interest in extra-curricular activities. The students extend their untiring voluntary co-operation to the organizations like Red Ribbon Club, Youth Red Cross and National Service Scheme. The college also provides a full-size library facility containing over 10,000 books. The library timing is from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. The college canteen and the hostel are also well-equipped.
