The Malaviya National Institute of Technology or also popularly known as the National Institute of Technology, Jaipur was established in the year of 1962 but it actually became a running institute in the year of 1963 as one of the 20 NIT’s that were established all across the India in different states. Funded totally by the government of India, they have been running since then and are the top prestigious colleges of technology in the country.

Before being assigned to this name the institute was referred to as the Malaviya Regional Engineering College which started itself temporarily at a campus in Pilani from where it operated only electrical and mechanical engineering trades but later shifted itself to its head campus in the capital city of Jaipur.

As for the courses that the institute offers in the technological field are a 4 year B.Tech degree in the trades of civil, computer science, mechanical, chemical, electrical, electronics & communication, information technology and metallurgical. Moreover a 5 year B.Arch degree and PG specializations in multiple fields is what are one offering in one of the premier institute of India.

As for the up gradations in the institute are done with time in the courses being offered are the introductions to courses like M.Tech, M.Sc., MBA, Masters of Planning and PhD.

As for the campus which holds this institute today is an area of 312 acres of lush green belt which holds all the facilities for the students and the teaching and non-teaching staff of the institute. The campus holds in itself besides the lecture halls staff clubs, post office, hospital, banks, community center, school, gymnasium, sports field, canteen residences including staff colonies and student hostels, guest houses etc.

Besides these the campus play host to the annual rounds of extra-curricular and techno- cultural events that are organized by the MNIT, Jaipur.
