The All India Management Association (AIMA) conducts an entrance test for students who wish to pursue post graduate management courses. There are number of management institutes throughout the country. MAT provides admittance to students in good management institutes. It can be said that for a post graduate management student MAT is equivalent to what AIEEE is for an undergraduate engineering student.

Structure of MAT

The duration of MAT exam is 150 minutes. The paper will hold 200 questions. The students can choose either of the two options for writing the exam: the paper-pencil test or the computer based test.

• Mathematical Skills-40 questions
• Language Comprehension-40 questions
• Intelligence and Critical Reasoning-40 questions
• Indian and Global Environment-40 questions
• Data Analysis and Sufficiency-40 questions

One mark will be given for each correct answer. Negative marks are not specified.

Eligibility Criteria for MAT

To appear for MAT graduation is a must. Final year students who are pursuing graduation and desire for provincial admission can apply for MAT. Age and nationality is also given equal importance for admission purpose. Physical and mental fitness is also important.

How to Apply for MAT?

• Candidates can opt for any of the three to apply for MAT
• By paying Rs 1200/- one can get a form with MAT bulletin/CD from selected branches of Bank of Baroda or selected Study Centers of AIMA
• A Demand Draft (DD) taken in the name of respective institution of Rs 1050/- (One thousand fifty only). The DD details have to be entered online along with the registration.

How to fill the MAT Form?

The application form has to be submitted online. If an individual chooses the Demand Draft method then all the details should be entered very carefully. Submission of the form should be done only after checking it. Once the form is successfully submitted the candidate will receive a registration number. This number should be saved for future reference. A copy of the form and DD along with other important documents should be send to AIMA. For reference, the name of the institution and the register number should be written down behind the Demand Draft.

Important Dates

The test is conducted four times in a year. The first test will be held in September .Second test will take place by December and the third and fourth by February and May. The exams are usually conducted on the first Sunday of respective months:

Study Plan for MAT exam

To get a better result it is good to start preparing as early as possible. By reading daily newspapers and magazines one can improve his/her vocabulary in English. Also by watching English news channels various usage of a particular word can be noted down. A candidate should try to brush up his/her skills in other sections and should immediately rectify the errors if any. The concept should be understood thoroughly. The best method is to be systematic in studies. It would help to make fruitful use of time. In the same time to much of studying may lead to tiredness, which would enable the individual to cover all the portions. A small break will help to freshen up their mind.

How and Where To Get the Results?

Results will be published on official website of AIMA .Candidates can also receive results through SMS. Format to be followed is MATS<Space>FORMNO<Space>DOB (ddmmyy) and sends to 54242

Expected sectional cutoff for MAT Exam

In each exam according to the performance of the student and number of applicants the cutoff varies. For the MAT test held in the moth of May the cutoff were set at 85 percentile. 233 was the overall cut off taken last year. Sectional cut offs were from 60-75

Score Validity

MAT score is valid only for one year.
