The National Institute of Design is acclaimed as one of the finest institute in design among the various institutes of design for communication, textiles and other industries. The NID or the National Institute of design is established recently and currently a new institute which is on its path toward development and on the stairs of success. The Institute is set up by a union minister of India in the field of commerce and industry. The institute is also got its reorganization under the science and research organization.

The NID in Bhopal offers various courses at various levels for both graduates and under graduates. The course for Post graduation i.e. the courses for the students who have done their graduation is PGDPD or the post Graduate Diploma Programme in Design. The course available for under graduate is GDPD or the Graduate Diploma Programme in Design. The Institute also offers reservation for various categories as per the government norms for the same. The total number of design courses at undergraduate level are 8 and which together offer seats to 100 students. The programs are offered under various disciplines of design i.e. Industrial design, Communication design, and textile and apparel design. The Upper age limit for the candidates here is 20 years which is relaxed by three years for backward classes.

To get admission in the courses offered by the institute the aspiring students are required to fill in an application form that is available at various places and also at the main campus in Bhopal. The institute conducts a DAT exam or the design aptitude test exam and the top rankers of this exam only have the opportunities to choose from the pool of courses. The Institute is starting its first batch in this year 2010. The NID DAT exam is conducted in various states of India that can be opted from.
