Orissa Institute of Media Science & Culture came into existence in the year 2008 and the institute is affiliated to the Utkal University of Culture. The main aim of the institute is to create market-ready and world-ready journalists, who will make constant endeavors to be different.

Course Details:

The only course offered by the Orissa Institute of Media Science & Culture is two-year master’s degree course in Journalism & Mass Communication. The course covers the following curriculum:

• Film studies, computer education and multimedia education

• Internships, seminars and regular field visits in all important media houses

• Corporate communication, public relations and advertising

• Subbing, news writing and photo journalism

• Orientation for radio jockey/news anchoring/news reading

Teaching module:

• Hands on practical experience in areas like electronic media, internet and print media

Eligibility requirement:

To apply for the Master of Journalism & Mass Communication course offered by the Orissa Institute of Media Science & Culture, candidates must have completed their graduation in any discipline.

Before applying through online, candidates will have to take a DD for an amount of Rs.250 drawn in favour of Orissa Institute of Media Sciences & Culture at any Nationalized Bank in the city of Bhubaneswar since the details regarding Bank Draft number with its date and name of the issuing bank should be filled when filling the online application. Once online application is submitted, candidates will have to take a copy of the application and this should be sent along with the Demand Draft through registered post to the address of the college. Candidates can also download the application and prospectus from the website of the college.

Placement:

The institute offers full support to the students with respect to their placement. At present, a number of pass-outs of the college are placed in top television channels in the state of Orissa.
