Central University of Karnataka was established by the Government of India under the Central Universities Act, 2009 of Parliament. The university is spreaded in around 620 acres campus at Gulbarga University. The major objective behind the establishment of the university is to provide a helping hand to the Central Universities Act, 2009 of Parliament to convert Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya in Chhattisgarh, Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya in Madhya Pradesh and Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in Uttarakhand into Central universities.
