Recruitment procedure for Statistical Inspector in Tamil Nadu

Recruitment of Statistical Inspector is conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. Graduation in Statistics or Mathematics is the desired qualification. Selection procedure is based on the marks obtained in the written exam conducted by the commission.

Eligibility Criterion

Educational Qualification

Candidates who have completed graduation in Statistics or Mathematical Sciences from a recognized University are eligible to apply for this post. Those who have obtained degree certificate after passing matriculation and higher secondary course are only eligible to apply. There is no minimum mark in qualifying examination so as to be eligible.

Age Restrictions

Those who have completed 18 years of age at the time of application are only eligible to apply. Upper age limit is 30 years. Candidates belonging to Backward Class, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe can claim relaxation in upper age limit as per the norms issued by the Government of India.

Candidates are required to be physically fit as per the notification issued by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.

Selection Procedure

Recruitment to the post of Statistical Inspector is carried out on the basis of Computer Based Test, conducted by the State Public Service Commission. The examination comprises of questions from Mathematics or Statistics. Of these, candidates can select one subject as per their area of interest. There will be two hundred objective type multiple choice questions in the examination. Medium of instruction will be in English as well as in Tamil Language. Maximum time allotted for answering all questions is two hours. Maximum marks allotted for the entire test is three hundred. Those who have cleared the computer based test will be short listed for oral test. Maximum marks allotted for oral test is 40. Candidates are required to secure a minimum of 136 marks for written test as well as oral test so as to qualify. Reserved category candidates require 102 marks for qualification.

Application Procedure

Eligible candidates are required to apply online from the official website of the commission. Candidates are required to have scanned versions of photograph and signature in jpeg format. They should have a valid email id. Candidates are required to pay Rs.150/- as examination fee. Examination fee for reserved category candidates is Rs.50/-. Fee payment can be done online by using Net Banking, Credit/ Debit card. Apart from this, candidates can make payment by using payment challan in any branches of Indian Bank or Post office. Candidates are required to provide academic details as well as details of fee payment in online application form. Those who have successfully submitted the application form will receive system generated completed application form having a unique registration id. Candidates are advised to take print out of this completed application form for future reference.
