St. Ann’s College of Education is a premier institution for teacher education in India and the college began its journey in the year 1943. The college holds the pride of being the first private college for teacher education in the state of Karnataka and during that period only two government college for teacher education were functioning in the state.

The college is approved by the Mangalore University as a Research Centre in the field of education and through this the college is offering Doctor of Philosophy in education. The institute has also been approved by IGNOU University as a partner institution under convergence scheme.

Distance education courses:

As mentioned earlier, St. Ann’s College of Education is acting as a study centre for IGNOU University and for Karnataka State Open University thereby offering Master of Education course.

Eligibility Criteria:

For seeking admission to the Bachelor of Education course offered by St. Ann’s College of Education, candidates must have completed their Bachelor of Arts/Science degree from the Mangalore University or any other recognized university as equal to Mangalore University with not less than 50% of aggregate marks in all three years exclusive of class examination and internal assessment marks. It is essential that the candidate should have studied any of the following languages being Sanskrit, Urdu, Marathi, Hindi, Kannada and English. She should also have studied any two out of the following elective subjects: Kannada, English, Economics, Geography, Sociology, political science, history, mathematics, zoology, microbiology, botany, chemistry and physics.

Admission procedure:

Admission of candidates for the Bachelor of education course will be done purely on the basis of merit secured by the students in the B.A/B. Sc examination.

How to apply:

Candidates can obtain the application form from the office of the college on payment of Rs. 200 either in the form of Money order or cash and duly filled in application forms should reach the office before the last date of submission specified by the college.
